KRIST, Leonard S. - of Clio, age 80, died Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at McLaren of Flint. Funeral services will be held 1PM Saturday, July 13, 2013 at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Rev. Desiree Lawson officiating. Burial in Thetford Township Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 11AM until 8PM and on Saturday from 10AM until the time of service at 1PM. Contributions may be made to Trinity United Presbyterian Church or McLaren Pulmonary Rehab.
Leonard was born September 3, 1932 in Bentley, MI to the late John and Mildred (Gleniecki) Krist. He has resided in the Clio area since 1961. Leonard attended Flint Central High School. He married Mary Anderson on June 11, 1960 in Flint, MI, they enjoyed 53 years together. Leonard served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Mr. Krist worked at AC Sparkplug for 33 years retiring in 1994. He was a member of the UAW Local # 651, the Croatian Club and the Polish National Alliance. Leonard enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a meticulous gardener, avid MSU fan, and loved spending time with his family who all enjoyed his wonderful sense of humor.
Surviving are: wife, Mary; children, Kathy (Cleatus) Henderson of Swartz Creek, Michael (Monica) Krist of Swartz Creek, Mark Krist of Marquette; 6 grandchildren, John Turner, Sherry Chipman, Mike Krist, Griffin Henderson, Billy Dobson, Kenny (Brittany) Dobson; great grandchildren, Amelia, Avery, Jameson, Colton and Benjamin Dobson; brother, John Krist; 2 aunts; many cousins, nieces, nephews and special friends; Leonard was preceded in death by; granddaughter, Samantha Dobson in 2005.
