BURGESS, David Austin “Dave” – of Birch Run, age 57, died Friday, April 28, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, May 4, 2017 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Birch Run. Pastor Fred Smith officiating. Burial to follow in Birch Run Cemetery. Family will receive visitors on Wednesday from 1-8PM and on Thursday from 10AM until time of services at 11AM. Contributions in his memory may be made to the family.
Dave was born December 8, 1959 in Pontiac to Donald and Alice (Lazenby) Burgess. He was a graduate of Lake Orion High School and earned his Associates Degree in Diesel Automotive from Lincoln Tech. He was a resident of Birch Run since 1995. Dave married Kelly Matzke on December 21, 2016. Mr. Burgess was employed by Michigan Cat and recently Interstate Construction Co. He enjoyed bowling and racing his school bus at Dixie Speedway.
Surviving are: Wife, Kelly; Beloved Dog, Tuxedo; Children: Austin Burgess of Bridgeport, Jessica Burgess of Birch Run, Mikayla Burgess of Millington, Dennis Matzke of Flint, Mitchel Matzke of Bridgeport; Grandson, Thomas Herrington of Bridgeport; Mother, Alice Beckwith of Lewiston; DeeMarie Vanopstall of NC, Shelly (Fred) Wiles of Waterford, Glenda Jo (Eric) Coudret of Waterford; several nieces and nephews.
