SHEPPARD, Mary Lou – of Mt. Morris, age 71, died Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at her residence. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11AM Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Clio Community of Christ Church, 4041 W. Vienna Road in Clio. High Priest Tom Banks and Elder Cindy Dewar officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 1PM-8PM. Contributions may be made to Community of Christ.
Mary Lou was born January 17, 1945 in Goodrich to the late Lyle and Mary (Dockham) Stayton. She married Robert Sheppard on July 13, 1968. Mrs. Sheppard worked as office manager for Dr. Garrett. Mary Lou was a member of Community of Christ Church since November 1969 and ordained to the office of Priest in December of 2013. She moved to Hale in 1994 where she and Robert became the caretaker of The Woodlands Campground. She volunteered at the Hale Senior Center, Meals on Wheels, enjoyed Bible Study, crafting, camping, boating and the outdoors. Mary Lou also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, but most of all, she enjoyed serving God.
Surviving are: Husband, Robert; Children: Josephine "Jodi" Sheppard of Warren, Lucinda "Cindy" (Mike) Dewar of Clio, Timothy (Deanna) Sheppard of Jackson; Grandchildren: Kearsten, Tyler (Erin), Alyssa, Mikayla, Kyle, Cassidy, and Christian; Sisters: Nancy Johns of FL, Carol (Don) Newman of AR, Lila Cassibo of Swartz Creek, Arlene (Dick) Cove of TX; Nieces and nephews.
