BENSON, Jane (Zielaskowski) – of Flint, age 93, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at Stonegate Health Campus – Lapeer. A Funeral Service will be held 1 PM on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423; with Laurie Woodward officiating. Interment will be in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will welcome visitors at the funeral home from 11 AM until the time of the service at 1 PM on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5191 Richfield Road, Flint MI 48506, in Jane’s memory.
Jane was born in Alpena on May 25, 1931, daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Werda) Zielaskowski. She married Howard Benson on March 27, 1954 in Angola, IN. They were married for 56 years until his passing on October 16, 2010. Howard and Jane moved to Flint in 1953. Jane worked at Fisher Coldwater for 30 years. Jane was a life-time member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. She volunteered at the church for social events and luncheons. Jane loved whipping up delicious meals within minutes, she loved to sit on the front porch with neighbors and friends, drink a few beers and socialize. She enjoyed taking care of her yard with beautiful flowers and lawn mowed to look immaculate. Jane also enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers, playing cards, buying scratch off tickets and mostly loved listening to the Elvis impersonator at Stonegate. Jane was a loving mother, grandma, great-grandma, aunt and friend. Jane was the kindest, unselfish person and would do anything for anyone. She will be deeply missed.
Jane is survived by her beloved children, Raymond (Linda) Benson and Teresa (Phil) Ledger; seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Kimberly, Amanda, Kristen, Jene (Brady), Chelsea (Ian) and Quinn; two step grandchildren, Jamie Brandle and Jason (Sarah) Brandle; two great-grandchildren, Jacob and Logan; two great-step grandchildren, Shane (Raven) Brandle and Jasmine Brandle; great-great step grandchild, Asher Brandle; sisters, Gertrude (Arthur) Samp, Clara Donajkowski, Elizabeth Paquette and Rose (Melvin) Hanner; and many other loving family members and friends. In addition to her parents and her husband, Jane was preceded in death by a sister, Esther Suszek; two brothers, Leo and Felix Zielaskowski; step grandchild, Danny Brandle.
The family wishes to thank the Stonegate staff in Lapeer for the wonderful care given to Jane the past 3 years.
