SEMBLER, Sadie “Jean” – Of Flint, age 92, died Monday, March 21, 2016 at Genesys Regional Medical Center.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Fenton Road Baptist Church, 4386 Fenton Road, Flint, Dr. Michael Stallard officiating.
Burial in Crestwood Cemetery.
Those desiring may make contributions to American Heart Association of Michigan.
Visitation 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
Mrs. Sembler will be at the church from 10 a.m. Thursday until the time of the service.
Sadie was born in Dyersburg, Tennessee on August 12, 1923, the daughter of the late William and Ruby (Allen) Coleman and was a resident of Flint since 1944, coming from Dyersburg, Tennessee.
She was a member of Fenton Road Missionary Baptist Church.
Mrs. Sembler was employed by GM Parts Division for 25 years, retiring in 1980.
Surviving are two daughters, Linda and husband Gene Lazar,
Norma and husband Richard Burchell;
step-son, Jesse and wife Debbie Sembler;
6 grandchildren, Richard (Sylvia) Burchell and Alesha (Stephen) Wal,
Megan (Gordon) Loll, Jonathan (Kari) Lazar,
Justin (Wendy) Sembler and Leah (Mike) Phillips;
16 great-grandchildren, Tarrin and Sadie Lazar, Elizabeth and Sarah Wal, Trey, Annika and Greta Burchell, Jaden, Josiah and Noah Lazar, Riley, Elijah and Lucas Sembler, Nolan and Sawyer Loll and Henry Phillips;
special friend, Jessie Gould; special daughter, Gayle Miller;
several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, John B. Carpenter, on March 24, 1962 and second husband Jess Sembler on February 17, 1992; grandson, Douglas Lazar; brothers and sisters, Emmitt, Hulon, Everett Coleman, Mary Lee Phillips, Mamie Ross and Pauline Carper.
