Ethel was born in Detroit, MI on February 18, 1926 to the late William and Eva (Deacon) Stepharnoff. She married Marwell E. Brown who preceded her in death in 2001. Before coming back to Michigan she had lived in AZ for 30 years. Ethel was a very artistic person including painting, sewing, and ceramics. She loved to draw roses and spend time gardening. Ethel also liked to read and do all sorts of other crafts. She was a member of Lakeland Eastside Church of the Nazarene in Lakeland, FL. Ethel also volunteered as a Sunday school teacher at Brown Street Wesleyan Church where she was a member for over 30 years. She used her artistic talents to paint entire background scenes for the church’s musical productions. She had a warm and gentle spirit and was humble in nature. She had a strong faith that guided her and it was reflected in her love and care for others. Ethel was truly a self-less, generous woman and could be described as a “saint “of a woman. Surviving are her sons, Rev. William A. (Beverly) Brown and Patrick A. (Sandra) Brown; grandchildren, Shari (Tom) Tasker, Cindy (Paul) McNeal, Kristi (Chris) Castle, Rev. Chadrick (Tracy) Brown, and Stephanie (Brian) Day, 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Ray Stepharnoff; sister, Ann Stepharnoff; sister-in-law, Jan Stepharnoff, and many nieces and nephews. Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, husband Marwell Brown and 9 brothers and sisters. Those desiring may make contributions to Gideons International.
