ZAFIROFF, Glenda Maxine - Of Flint, age 93, died Sunday, October 21, 2018 peacefully with family present at Caretel Inns of Linden.
A memorial service will be held 4pm Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,
Reverend Ryan Zafiroff officiating.
Cremation has taken place and burial of cremains will be in Great Lakes National Cemetery.
Visitation 12-4pm Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at the funeral home.
Glenda was born in Pascola, Missouri on August 20, 1925, the daughter of the late Jack and Eurine (Simmons) Walker. On November 27, 1947, she married Chris Zafiroff, the love of her life. Glenda was an avid storyteller for Flint Public Library and provided entertainment for children at birthday parties. She was very competitive and ran in many races into her 80’s, including the Crim. Glenda also won cooking, dancing and shuffleboard competitions. She won many speech contests in ToastMasters of Michigan. Glenda participated in the “Mrs. Senior Michigan Pageant”. Glenda loved playing Pinochle and Bid Euchre at Burton and Eastside Senior Centers. Mrs. Zafiroff was a Master Gardener and a Red Hatter. Glenda and her husband traveled the United States and the world together spending many winters in Florida. Glenda was an advocate for the mentally ill, and was a founding member of the Genesee County Alliance for the Mentally Ill.
Left to cherish her memory are children, Chris Zafiroff of Tampa, FL, Kurt (Sharon) Zafiroff of Flint, Greg (Terry) Zafiroff of Swartz Creek, Kim (Brian) Alexander of Linden;
Grandchildren, Michael, Emily and Ryan Zafiroff;
Great-grandchildren, Miles and Wesley;
Sister, Sandra (Jack) Hall of Altamonte Springs, FL
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chris.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Genesee County National Alliance for the Mentally Ill or Eastside Senior Center.
