Gladys May (Hilgendorf/Esper) Daniel - age 85 of Zephyrhills, Florida, formerly from Lennon, passed away Saturday, September 24th at East Pasco Care Center in Dade City, Florida. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 AM Wednesday, September 28th from the Mowen Funeral Home - William A. Scarlett Memorial Chapel, 409 West Main Street, Owosso. Pastor DeWeerd Smith, Lennon Wesleyan Church will officiate. Final rest will be Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 27th from 2 PM to 8 PM with the family present 2 PM to 4 PM and 6 PM to 8 PM.
Gladys was born November 11, 1925 in Owosso, the daughter of Fred A. and Tracy Delores (Hamby) Hilgendorf. She was a graduate of Owosso High School. Gladys married Elmer Esper on July 21, 1962 and he preceded her in death on November 19, 1999. She later married Fred Daniel at the West Flint Church of the Nazarene on September 23, 2000. She served four years in the United States Army during the Korean Era. She was assigned to the motor pool in Washington, D.C. as a chauffer. Returning home, she hired in at A.C. Sparkplug in Flint in 1952. She worked on production and retired in 1986 after 34 years of faithful service. She was a member of the U.A.W. She loved playing golf and was a league golfer for years. She was a devoted wife and a loving sister. Her family was most important in her life.
Those who cherish her memory include: husband, Fred Daniel of Zephyrhills; step-children, Diana Fuller, Mike Burek and Nancy Rains; sisters and brothers, Winona Long of Ypsilanti, Harold (Jacqulyn) Hilgendorf of Owosso, John (Betty) Hilgendorf of East Lansing, Nancy Hilgendorf of Lansing and Gary (Monika) Hilgendorf of Maple Rapids; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Elmer Esper; six sisters; five brothers; six half brothers; and a step-son, Art Bernon.
Memorials are suggested to the Lennon Wesleyan Church, Lennon, Michigan.
