George A. Stoutenburg of Flushing, age 82, died Friday, January 4, 2013 at The Pines of Lapeer. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Rossell Funeral Home, Fr. Paul Schwermer officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Monday and 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Burton Rotary Club.
George was born in Flint, MI on August 31, 1930, the son of George H. and Katherine (Joseph) Stoutenburg. He married Shirley A. “Penny” Hanson in Port Huron, MI on September 25, 1976. She preceded him in death on August 30, 2006.
George retired from banking in 1993, having worked at Michigan National Bank, First Federal Savings & Loan, and Citizens Bank. He served 23 years in the Michigan National Guard and retired with the rank of Major from the Army Reserve. George was a member of the American Legion Post #342 of Flint. He also was a lifetime member of Genesee Masonic Lodge #174 F. & A.M. of Flushing and a member of the Mio Moose Lodge.
George is survived by: daughter, Marsha Kalakay and two grandsons, Brian “BJ” and Kevin Kalakay, all of Davison; sister, Charlotte Case of West Branch. He was also preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. |
