James M. Bence –age 68, of Fenton, Michigan passed away on March 28, 2019 in Swartz Creek, Michigan. James was born on August 9, 1950 in Flint, Michigan to the late Lero and Hazel Bence. James married the love of his life Ethel Carlson on May 3, 1975 in Flint, Michigan. James was an entrepreneur. He opened the General Pawn Shop in Flint, MI and Total Music in Burton, MI. He enjoyed boating, sports, cars, and participating in his son’s sports and music activities. James was a strong advocate for Parkinson’s disease. He traveled to Washington D.C. and New York advocating. He was awarded National, state, and locally for his work advocating and advertising. He also was the facilitator for Parkinson’s disease support group in Flint for 20 years. James was a wonderful man and will be deeply missed. He is survived by his wife, Ethel; sons: Aaron (Brandi) Bence, Christopher Bence; brothers: Gary Bence, David (Kathleen) Bence; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lero and Hazel Bence. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 1, 2019 from 1pm-8pm at Hill Funeral Home – 11723 S. Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc, MI. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at 12pm at Hill Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to the James Bence family in memory of James. |
