LORENZ, Edwin A. – Of Grand Blanc, age 90, went to be with his loving Lord on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at Ascension Genesys Hospital.
A private service will be held at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. Burial to follow the service in Sunset Hills Cemetery.
Edwin was born on April 4, 1930 in Flint, Michigan the son of the late Phillip and Marie (Eisner) Lorenz.
In 1950 he married the love of his life, Muriel Gardner, in Flint and they had celebrated 63 wonderful years of marriage. She preceded him in death on May 3, 2014. Ed and Muriel were blessed with 4 great children. Ed was the last of 10 children and the last to leave this life. Mr. Lorenz retired from GM in 1992, after 44 years of service.
Ed actively attended South Baptist Church. He enjoyed a wide range of music from Classical to Brass to Vocals. You could always find Ed doodling and inventing. He was an incredibly smart man and had a great sense of humor. You couldn’t ask for a better patriarch than Ed, he taught us all so much. He was the best husband, father and grandfather and was loved by all that met him. Ed will be dearly missed.
Surviving are daughters, Bethany (Larry) Shelton of Grand Blanc, Cheryl (Michael) Dipzinski of Cincinnati, Ohio; sons, Martin (Mary) Lorenz of Grand Blanc and Ed (Shelly) Lorenz, of Grand Blanc;
12 grandchildren, Dr. Scott (Elizabeth) Shelton, Dr. Jacquelyn Shelton, Ryan (Erin) Dipzinski, Adam Dipzinski, Eric Dipzinski, Laura (Andrew) Dipzinski, Jennifer Hall, Luke (Jennifer) Lorenz,
April (Adam) Garceau, Alyson (Tim) Lee, Grant Lorenz and
Jaime (Kyle) Alexander;
And 22 great-grandchildren.
