POLEHNA, John, Jr. - of Davison, MI, age 84, passed away Friday, March 22, 2019 at Lapeer County Medical Care Facility-Suncrest. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1 PM Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 North Dayton Street, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow in Meadowview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive visitors 2-4 PM & 6-8 PM Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423 and 12-1 PM Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. A Scripture Service will be held 6 PM Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at Allen Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in John’s memory.
John was born in Detroit, MI on May 21, 1934, son of the late John and Kathryn (Panacek) Polehna, Sr. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1956-1960. John married Elaine Sedlak on July 15, 1961 and she preceded him in death on March 23, 2009. He retired from AC Sparkplug in 1980 after 26 years of service. John was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. John also held a special place in his heart for his longtime canine companions, Corkey and Ginger.
John is survived by 4 children, Richard (Kelli) Polehna, James (Gail) Polehna, David (Kelly) Polehna and Dennis (Cindy) Polehna; 5 grandchildren, Molly, Ben, Brie, Natalie and Nathan Polehna; many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by 2 grandsons, Joshua and Noah Polehna; brother, Stanley Polehna and step-sister, Libby Hershon.
