CRAWFORD, Mary Jane - age 72, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 8, 2012 after a valiant fight with a long-term illness. Mary was born July 8, 1940, in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of the late Edward Bray and Dorothy Jones. On November 5, 1957, Mary married Don Crawford after a two-week courtship. Their marriage endured, they celebrated 54 years of marriage and had three daughters.
Mary lived in the City of Burton for 33 years and was very involved as a volunteer for the city she loved. She was a fixture at city council meetings and a founding member of the Parks and Recreation Committee. Mary was instrumental in the development of Kelly Lake in Burton. She was recognized for her volunteer work by receiving a key to the City of Burton in 2008 and being named Citizen of the Year in 2010.
Mary is survived by her husband, Don Crawford; daughters, Linda (Mickey) Gaden of Washington State, Lois (Rory) Huffman of Franklin, Tennessee and Karen (Matthew) Barrett of Burton, Michigan; sister, Beverly Wilcox; brother, Donald (Joan) Bray and the loves of her life, her 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved brother, Bobby Bray.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 11 from 1-8 p.m. at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m Friday, October 12 at Davison Missionary Church, 1481 Gale Road, Davison, with Rev. Allen Sudmann officiating. Burial will take place at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Old News Boys.
The family would like to thank Dr. Alawwa, Dr. Varghese and Dr. Imperial for taking tender care of Mary through the years.
