Leonila “Antonia” Guerrero departed on November 2, 2012 to go see her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Born January 17, 1930 as Leonila Antonia Medina in Seguin, TX, daughter of Jesus Medina & Paula Leos, Antonia’s family migrated after WWII planting their roots in Saginaw, MI. Antonia married US Navy Veteran Ignacio Guerrero August 6, 1949 who preceded her to heaven June 2007. Antonia was a member at St. Joseph Catholic Church, and participated in choir, lector, cursillo, charismatic prayer group and lay ministry program. Antonia earned her GED, and began her studies at SVSU while working 29 yrs. for Buena Vista Twp. School District. Most importantly, she was loved by all those around her and will be dearly missed.
Surviving Antonia are her children Irene, Esther, Edward, Raymond (Tina) Guerrero, and Pauline (Paul) Krupp. Antonia enjoyed 9 grandchildren, Renee, Kristie (Jeff), Manuel (Izabel), Elizabeth, Christiana, Michael, Raymond, Brian, and Emily as well as 5 great-grandchildren. She also leaves her siblings Jim (Connie), Molly (Placido), Willie (Holly), and Simon (Gloria) Medina; along with brother-in-law Ray Garcia. She was preceded in death by her brother and sisters Julio Medina (Marcella), Andrea Gutierrez (Santos), Maria Luz Garcia.
Funeral Liturgy will take place 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 5, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 902 N. 6th Ave., Saginaw. Rev. Fr. Frank Voris, OFMCap will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends may call at the Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. A vigil service will be held on Sunday at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Joseph Catholic Church or to the Youth to Youth Catholic Evangelization.
As a woman of faith Antonia did not hesitate to express her love of Christ, her gratitude of the Gospel nor her thankfulness for salvation. Antonia ran the great race. Let us rejoice as she enters eternity in the presence of God.
