COLONNA, Emma M. “Nonna” - Of Lapeer, age 98, died Friday, August 16, 2013 at Genesys Hospice.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11am Monday, August 19, 2013
at St. John the Evangelist Church, 404 North Dayton Street, Davison, Father Carl A. Simon officiating.
Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Contributions to St. Jude’s Childrens Research Hospital or a charity of one’s choice.
Visitation 1-8pm Sunday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. A Scripture Service will be held 7pm Sunday evening at the funeral home. Emma will be at the church 10am Monday until the time of the Mass.
Emma was born in Latrobe, Pennsylvania on July 7, 1915, the daughter of Guerino and Filomena Grossi. She married Americo Colonna and he preceded her in death on December 16, 1970. Emma was a member of the Sons of Italy. She was the owner and operator of Colonna's Barber and Beauty Shop, Colonna’s Pizzeria Palace Pizzeria, and the original owner of Sorrento’s on Flushing Road.
Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Rita Krehel, Edith and husband Bill Krehel and Gloria and husband Rod Eaton;
10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her infant son, Ernest and son-in-law, Tom Krehel.
