RINOLDO, Horatio (Paul) – Of Flint, formerly of Massachusetts, age 81, passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at McLaren-Flint.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, January 30, 2012 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, G-3139 Hogarth Avenue, Flint, Father Robert F. Copeland officiating.
Entombment at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the North End Soup Kitchen or St. Vincent De Paul Charity.
Visitation 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday, January 28, 2012 and Sunday, January 29, 2012 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
A Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. and a memorial service will be conducted by the K of C #0510 4th Degree Assembly at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Rinoldo will be at the church from 10 a.m. Monday until the time of the Mass.
Paul was born in Cordaville, Massachusetts on February 16, 1930. He grew up the youngest son of Orazio and Jennie Rinoldo. He graduated from Framingham High School in 1949 and entered the military, where he served in the Army Signal Corps in Korea and received an Honorable Discharge in 1953.
In 1954, Paul moved to Flint, Michigan to attend Flint Junior College before transferring to the University of Michigan-Flint and earning a B.S. Degree in Elementary Education. He continued his graduate studies at U of M-Ann Arbor and earned a Masters Degree, specializing in vocational education.
Paul began his teaching career in the Flint Community Schools in 1960, teaching elementary school before beginning his love of vocational education with the opening of the Genesee Area Skill Center as a Small Engine Instructor. He spent the next 23 years at the Skill Center teaching small engine repair as well as teaching for the Mott Adult High School Education Program. Paul was elected in 1977 as Secondary Vice President of the Flint Teachers Union. He retired in 1992 from the Flint Community Schools and from Mott Adult School in 2002. Paul also taught as an instructor for the General Motors Educational Program.
Paul’s commitment to charity was demonstrated by his love of serving his community and living his faith. Paul was a faithful member of St. Pius X Catholic Church.
He also devoted his time to serving in the North End Soup Kitchen. Paul was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council #0510, with over 50 years of service.
He was also a proud member of the Alumni Association of the University of Michigan.
Paul’s loves were his wife of 50 years, Rita (Primeau);
four children, Paul Rinoldo, Pamela Rinoldo-Dikos (Robert),
Debra Rinoldo-Hopkins (Todd) and
Michael (Stephanie) Rinoldo;
seven beloved grandchildren, Margaret and R.Stephen Dikos II,
Victoria Hopkins, Michael II, Joseph, Thomas and Alex Rinoldo.
He also leaves his sisters, Jane England, Gloria (Harry) Guigli, Victoria Frazier and Matilda Muzzi;
numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Orazio and Jennie Rinoldo; sister, Julia Pappas; brothers, Thomas and Peter; grandson, Matthew Rinoldo.
