Betty Lou Nordgaard (Rogers), age 87, of Harrison passed away peacefully on February 25, 2025. She was born August 14,1937 in Greenway, Arkansas to the late Obe and Thelma Rogers. Betty was raised on a cotton farm and was no stranger to hard labor. From a young age she spent her days between school and working the farm and fields with family. After graduating from Greenway High School in 1955, where she was crowned Homecoming Queen, Betty headed north to Flint, Michigan to stay with her brother, Prentis Rogers. While there, she found employment with Hamady Brothers Supermarkets where she would later meet the love of her life Lyle DeWayne Nordgaard. Married in 1957 on July 16th at the Salem Lutheran Church of Flint, Lyle and Betty would begin a lifelong adventure spending over 67 wonderful years together.
Among Betty’s most significant accomplishments was raising her four children, whom she held as her pride and joy. She was a selfless mother, grandmother and wife, always supporting her family with whatever was needed. Betty enjoyed cooking and hosting large holiday dinners. She was a skilled baker and pie maker, creating such favorites as her Pecan and Coconut Cream pies. Betty valued time with family and took pride in passing down her skills and traditions to the next generations.
Later in life, Betty enjoyed traveling with her husband Lyle, hosting family and friends at her scenic lake house and partaking in a chocolate or two. She was the best around when it came to a game of Euchre and spent many years making special memories around the card table. Betty’s spirited heart was adored by her family and friends, she will be sorely missed and fondly remembered.
Betty was preceded in death by her brothers: Prentis Rogers, Carl Rogers, Roy Rogers, Jerry Rogers and sisters Dorothy and Helen Rogers.
