The Pearly Gates opened wide to welcome Gene, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and cousin as he passed away peacefully at Otterbein Senior Living in Perrysburg Ohio with his wife by his side on July 1, 2024. Gene was 74 years of age. He battled with Dementia for 18 months. Gene’s life was a testament to the values of love, courage, and selflessness that he embodied.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Calvary Community Church. Visitation at 1:00PM service will begin at 2:00PM. 1201 W 12th St. Flint, Mi 48507. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to Calvary Community Church or to the Family Wishes to Sandy Gray-Porus.
Having many jobs through the years: Television Repair man, Repo Agent, Head Janitor for the Flint area school system, Meals on Wheels, Owner of Best Floors, and his favorite job playing Santa Claus for several years for the children hospitalized during the CHRISTmas holiday.
Gene leaves behind his wife and soul mate of 17 years, Sandra Gray-Porus. His children: Bill (Patty) Campbell, Martha (Roger) Alsworth, Tobias (Heidi) Campbell, Eli (Christine) Campbell, Carlee Campbell, Misty (Vince) Campbell, Martin (Jill) Gray, Wendy (Jamie) Kelley and Becky (Chuck) Phillips. Along with 35 Grandchildren and 25 Great Grandchildren. His siblings Gail Reidel, James (JoAnn) Campbell, and Lelia (James) Arnold and many cousins, nephews, nieces and friends. Gene was preceded in death by his parents Stanley and Martha Campbell, Marwood Garchow, Sisters: Elizabeth (Libby) Dugan, Gwen (Duane) Dijak and grandson, Brandon Neph.
