Passed away peacefully with family by her side to be with her Lord on Thursday August 15, 2024 at Covenant Medical Center, age 83 years. Barbara Zehnder was born on November 25, 1940 to the late Elmer Zehnder and Gertrude (Sonntag) Zehnder. She was married to Virgil Diamond on April 30, 1960 at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church; he survives her. Barb was a lifelong member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church. She enjoyed browsing through cookbooks and sitting outdoors. She took pride in caring for her family and home. Family lake vacations were cherished memories of fishing, puzzles, games and laughter. She loved spending time with her family and spent many hours caring for her grandchildren.
Surviving besides her husband Virgil of 64 years are three daughters Cheryl (Don) Beythan of Birch Run, MI, Julie (Rob) Hayes of Frankenmuth, MI, and Amy (Scott) Paten of Frankenmuth; grandchildren Elizabeth (Lance) Peterson, Christine (Christopher) Matzke, Hannah (fiancé Keith LaVielle) Hayes, Eric Hayes, Calvin Paten, and Madison Paten; seven great-grandchildren Ashlyn, Alyson, Alyvia, and Landon Peterson, Braeden, Ethan and Abram Matzke, and many nieces and nephews.
Barb was preceded in death by her granddaughter Stephanie Mossner, and two sisters Ellen Westcoat and Frances Greis.
Funeral Service will take place on Tuesday August 20, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, 1030 W. Tuscola, Frankenmuth, Michigan. Barb’s family will receive visitors at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. on Monday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Lorenz Lutheran Church.
