Royal H. Bowen of Flushing, age 93, went to our Lord on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 from Maple Woods Manor, Clio. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, October 20, 2012 at St. Robert Catholic Church, 310 N. Cherry St., Flushing. Fr. Paul Schwermer will officiate. Cremation will follow the Mass. Visitation will be 11 a.m.-3 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. Friday at Rossell Funeral Home and 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the church. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to St. Robert Catholic Church.
Royal was born in Port Huron, MI on May 18, 1919, the son of Clarence and Hazel (Marx) Bowen. He married the love of his life, Charlotte B. White in Port Huron on January 26, 1948. She preceded him in death on April 26, 2003. Royal was a WWII Army Veteran, having served in the Philippines. He retired in 1977 from Consumers Energy.
Royal is survived by: two daughters, Bethany Bowen (Scott Lindsay) and Julie Hamilton; grandchildren, Emily Grant and Bryce Hamilton; great-grandson, Kingston Royal Longley. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy.
