GATICA, Sipriano F. “Joe” – of Flint, age 96, died peacefully on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at his residence with family by his side. Honoring his wishes, cremation will be taking place. Private family services will be held on Friday, August 28, 2020 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Flint. Memorial contributions may be made to the family for future designation.
Joe was born September 27, 1923 in Sinton, Texas to the late Dario and Ambrosia (Flores) Gatica. He married Maria Guadalupe, they enjoyed many years together. She preceded him in death December 21, 1987. Joe retired from Buick in 1985 with over 33 years seniority and was a member of the UAW Local #599. He was also a lifelong member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Flint. Joe enjoyed volunteering at the North End Soup Kitchen, flower and vegetable gardening, watching wrestling and the New York Yankees. Above all, Joe loved spending time with his grandchildren, great grandchildren, family, and friends. He will be greatly missed.
Surviving are: Daughters: Linda Gatica, Janie (Dave) Phaneuf, Sarah Gatica, Teresa Holifield, Karen (James) Gatica-Slaght; Son, Felipe and his wife and family; Grandchildren: Celia (Robert) Dell, Holly Gatica, Angie Gatica, Belinda (James) Allen, Eugene (Amy) Gatica, Jesse (Stacy) Gatica, Robert (Katie) Gatica, and Alex Holifield; Great grandchildren: Anessia, Maraya, Ethan, Aiden, Adam, Nathanuel, Gavin, and Jonas; Many other loving family members and dear friends.
