MAXFIELD, Barbara Jean – of Millington, age 66, died Saturday, August 29, 2020 at her residence. Honoring her wishes cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Barbara was born June 14, 1954 in Flint, Michigan to the late Eugene and June (Little) Bacon. She grew up in Millington, Michigan and graduated from Millington High School with the Class of 1972. Barbara went on to Central Michigan University and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Library Science in 1976. On August 28, 1999 she married James Maxfield in Davison, Michigan. Barbara owned and operated the Millington Herald and the Lakeview Messenger since 1995. She was a member of the Millington Chamber of Commerce, Arthur Latham Park Board, the Millington Planning Commission, and was a Trustee on the Millington Village Council. She enjoyed crocheting, collecting angels, and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Surviving are: Husband, James Maxfield; Children, Nathan (Jenny) Higgins, Hillary (Seth) Esterline, Jeffrey Higgins; Grandchildren, Christopher Higgins, Emma Higgins, Moira Esterline; Stepmother Catherine Bacon; Siblings, Jane (Charles) Jones, David (Barbara Furgeson) Bacon, Donald (Traci) Bacon, Duane (Mary) Bacon, Eugene Jr. (Tami) Bacon, Gary Bacon, Marilyn (Fred) McMahan; several nieces and nephews.
