GREEN, Gordon R. – Of Burton, age 92, died Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at Regency of Grand Blanc.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 15, 2019 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Son-in-law, Pastor Scott Crothers of Grace Pointe Community Church of the Nazarene in Herlanger, Kentucky officiating.
Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery at 2 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2019.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to My Brother’s Keeper, Veterans Floor, 101 North Grand Traverse Street Flint, MI 48503.
Visitation 2-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Gordon was born in Ionia, Michigan on May 4, 1926, the son of the late Edgar Kenneth and Annis (Coon) Green.
Gordon attended Ionia High School and graduated from GMI (Kettering).
He joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 17.
On August 22, 1947 Gordon married Joanna Faye Sisco at Brown Street Pilgrim Holiness Church in Flint and she preceded him in death on December 7, 2014.
He was a member of Flint Central Church of the Nazarene.
Joanna and Gordon were known to everyone as “Mom and Dad”, especially the Youth Group of the church for over 30 years.
Mr. Green was employed by Buick Motor Division 38 years of service and was the lead superintendent of final assembly.
Surviving are children, Brenda and husband Jerry Stace, Bruce and wife Laura Green, Denise and husband John Keaton, and Cathy and husband Pastor Scott Crothers;
grandchildren, Jeff (Jodi), Jason (Nicole), Lindsey (Bryan), Kelly (Rod), John (Brandy), Joanna, Sarah (Joel) Rachel and Hannah (Ben);
several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
