Mrs. Jo Ann Doby-Loyd was born and raised in Flint, MI on March 24, 1960 to the late parents of Joe and Alberta Doby. She departed on October 4, 2024, at Vista Ridge Nursing Home in Lewisville, Tx at the age of 64.
Jo Ann was a sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She graduated from Beecher High School in 1978 and then attended Ross Medical Education Center where she became a Medical Assistant that led her to use those skills learned to work as a phlebotomist for over 30 years. Jo Ann gave her life to God at an early age and was a faithful member of Joy Tabernacle in Flint, MI where she served on the Usher board. She loved playing her blues, getting together with family and friends having a good time cooking and making memories. She especially LOVED to barbeque! No matter the season or how high the snow was. Most of all, Jo Ann loved her “Pig Babies” (grandkids).
Jo Ann leaves to cherish her memory 5 children: LaTwana Doby, LaShaunda Doby, RaShima Doby, Constance Upchurch, Cortavius Doby and Calil Doby. Her brother Larry (Larunda) Doby and sister Barbara (Reginald) Hawk and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Joe and Alberta Doby, step-mother Julia Doby, sister Betty Williams, step-sister Kathy Williams and grandson Darnell Legrone Jr.
