LANGBEIN, Walter W. - Of Flushing, age 80, died Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at his residence with his family by his side.
Visitation 12-8pm Saturday and 11am Sunday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Funeral service will be held 2pm Sunday, February 16, 2014 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, Pastor Todd Ervin officiating.
Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery.
Those desiring may make contributions to McLaren Cancer Institute.
Walter was born in Flint on October 1, 1933, the son of the late William and Minnie Langbein. Walter graduated from Flint Central High School, Class of 1952 and did his apprenticeship at Schmald Tool and Die where he earned his journeyman in Tool and Die. He enjoyed spending time outside in the great outdoors, fishing, camping, spending time with his family and friends. He retired from General Motors AC Spark Plug as a model maker after 34 years of service and a member of UAW Local 651.
Surviving are sons, Kurt Langbein of Burton and fiancé Donna MacDonald of Flint, Mark Langbein and partner Michael Thiel of South Carolina and Gary and wife Nancy Langbein of Burton;
daughter, Sharlene and husband Pastor Todd Ervin of Alaska;
grandchildren, Zachary, Erin, Liesel and Jacob;
many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Alice in 2008 and great uncle, Fred Zielske.
