Of Flint Township, age 92, died Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at her daughter’s residence.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,
Pastor Dan Shinabarger officiating.
Visitation 10 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery.
Reta was born in Aid, Missouri on October 23, 1932, the daughter of the late Floyd and Evelyn (Williams) Rose. Reta graduated from Bendle High School, Class of 1950. She married Theodore Hawkins in 1951. She enjoyed spending time with her breakfast club members for 75 years and sewing, but her true joy was spending time with her family.
Surviving are daughter, Nancy (Jeff) Pelkey;
son-in-law, Danny Middleton;
daughter-in-law, Cheri Hawkins;
grandchildren, Samantha (Jason) Lamphier, Nickolas Middleton, Cyndy (Gavin) Smith, Becky Hawkins, Drew Pelkey, Katelynn (Chad) Coggins, Kirk Pelkey and Marc (Adrienne) Pelkey;
15 great-grandchildren;
sister, Gail (Larry) Hogard;
sister-in-law, Esther Rose;
several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore “Ted”, daughter, Laura Middleton, son Bruce Hawkins, and brother, Thomas Rose.
