STREBY, Cathy Lynn Ailes - Of Flint, age 72, died Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at Hurley Medical Center.
Memorial service will be held at 1:30 pm Sunday, November 17, 2024 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, Dr. Max B. Hayden officiating.
Visitation Sunday at 12 noon until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Following the service, there will be a 3 o’clock luncheon at a local restaurant.
Cremation has taken place.

Cathy was born in Flint, Michigan on October 15, 1952. Cathy grew up in Birmingham Michigan and in the E. Court St. area of Flint. She was a graduate of Flint Central High School and Eastern Michigan University. She taught special education in the Genesee Intermediate School District and first and second grade at Randels elementary in the Carman Ainsworth district. She followed in the footsteps of her teacher parents and many relatives and liked giving children a positive start to their education and a passion for exploration and learning. She enjoyed cooking, shopping, games, reading fiction and mystery books, was an avid gardener, and delighted in singing in the high school and Woodside Church choir. Cathy was thoughtful, empathic, an attentive listener, a good gift giver, and she especially enjoyed time with family and friends. She was grateful for the love, support, and encouragement to be herself she got from her parents Betty and Jerry. She loved being a grandmother and found great joy in time spent with her five special grandchildren. Cathy spent her final years living in the Woodhaven Senior Community where she valued her friendships and the very caring staff. Her sensitivity, caring nature, laughter, and light will be missed by all who knew her.
Surviving are brothers, Mark (Kay) Ailes and M. Scot Ailes;
sons, Adam (Angela) Streby and Ben ( Jennie ) Streby ;
father of 2 sons, John Streby ;
grandchildren, Emma, Isis, Evan, Jasper, and Odin.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert "Jerry" Ailes and mother, Betty Keener Ailes.
