DERKITS, Thomas Frank – Of Mundy Township, age 61, died Thursday, July 9, 2015 at his residence.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 13, 2015 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Reverend Rebecca Wilson officiating.
Entombment at Crestwood Cemetery.
Those desiring may make contributions to Cancer Center @ U of M.
Visitation 3-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Tom was born on May 30, 1954 in Allentown, PA, the son of John and Bernadine (Haas) Derkits.
Tom graduated in 1972 from Whitehall High School.
Tom worked in Contract Food Service for 35 years, for two companies, Restarra, Inc. and AVI Foodsystems as a District Manager, overseeing operations at 18 restaurants.
He married Janice Cramer on October 8, 1989 in Clearwater, Florida.
Tom was an avid record collector, amassing 3000 albums and other musical collectibles. Tom loved music and concerts.
Tom’s second love was going to the casino. He will always be our gambler.
Tom is survived by his loving family, his wife of 26 years, Janice;
sister, Marianne and husband Jim Sodl;
brother, David and wife Janet Derkits;
sister-in-law, Barbara Ax;
brother-in-law, Joe Cramer;
many loving nieces and nephews.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John and sister, Bernadine.
Tom is also preceded in death by his beloved dog, Cupper.
We want to thank everyone at the Cancer Center @ U of M, Dr. Sahai and staff, Dr. Brenda Fortunate and her staff.
Tom loved a roller coaster and he is now on his final ride. LOVE YOU!
