YOUNG, James S. – Of Flint, age 86, died Sunday, December 1, 2013 at Regency at Whitmore Lake, Michigan.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 6, 2013 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Reverend Tommy McDoniel
officiating.
Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
Visitation 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. Friday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
A Masonic Service will be conducted by the Genesee Lodge #174 F.&.A.M. 7 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.

James was born in Dexter, Missouri on December 24, 1926, son of the late James and Edna (Miller)Young.
On April 7, 1951 he married Mary Lou Hamlin.
He served his country in the U.S. Army during the end of World War II in the 11th Airborne as a Paratrooper Pathfinder in the Pacific Theater and in the first Occupation Forces in Japan.
After the Army he joined the Navy and subsequently retired on a service connected disability. James was a lifetime member of the D.A.V.
Because of his military time, he traveled around the world several times.
James and Mary Lou moved to Flint and he worked at GM Ternstedt and was a proud member of UAW Local #326.
James was a 32nd Degree Mason with Genesee Lodge #174 F.&.A.M.
He was a member of Asbury Methodist Church.
Surviving are wife, Mary Lou;
sons, Dr. Steve and wife Ellen Young,
James Young,
Mark and wife Norma Young;
grandchildren, Jesse, Kate, Gabriella, Neil, James and Ben;
great-grandchildren, Maikayla and Lacey;
sisters, Ruth Young, Eulene Prater, Joanna Tinnin and Clara;
sister-in-law, Delores Young.
He was preceded in death by brother, Paul Young; brothers-in-law, Charles Tinnin and Don Prater.
