DOWNS, Mary Jane (Simpson) – Of Flint, age 87, died Friday, June 13, 2014 at Hurley Medical Center.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 20, 2014 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, in Flint, Pastor Marvin W. Downs, Jr. officiating.
Entombment at Flint Memorial Park.
Visitation 2-8 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. Friday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Mary was born in Washington, Pennsylvania on November 19, 1926,
daughter of the late William and Tammy (Yancey) Simpson.
She married William Fred Downs, Jr. in Flint and he passed away on February 19, 1981.
She was a member of Mt. Olive Church and also the Misison and Flower Club and the Flint Chelan’s Block Club.
She loved to take care of her home.
Mrs. Downs was employed by GM.
Surviving are son, Marvin and wife Pamela;
three grandchildren, Marvin W., Jr., Cheston D. and Keosha Taylor;
sister-in-law, Sue Downs;
daughter-in-law, Karen Downs;
many special close friends and relatives.
She was preceded in death by brother, William Fred Downs III.
