COLONNA, Gene - Of Flint, age 85, died Friday, May 11, 2012 at McLaren-Flint.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 9am Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, G3139 Hogarth Avenue in Flint, Father Robert F. Copeland officiating.
Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation 4-8pm Monday and 12-4pm and 6-8pm Tuesday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. A Rosary will be prayed 7pm Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Those desiring may make contributions to St. Pius X Catholic Church or McLaren Pulmonary Rehab.
Gene was born in Flint on June 3, 1926, the son of the late Marino Carl and Maria (DelGreco) Colonna. Gene was a veteran and served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of the Son's Of Italy and was proud of his heritage and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
On December 13, 1952, he married Nora Kelly in Flint
Surviving are sons, Thomas and wife GiGi of California, Paul and wife Bernadette of Ortonville;
daughters, Kelly and husband Martin Ward of Flint and Tracy and husband Norman Bird of Grosse Pointe;
grandchidren, Phillip, Alexandra, Micaela, Norman, Christian and Katherine;
many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nora on September 26, 2009.
