Walton, Michael R. – of Mt. Morris, age 62, died Wednesday, December 21, 2016, at Genesee Care Center in Grand Blanc, after a courageous two - year battle with esophageal cancer. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM, Thursday, December 29, 2016, at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. The Rev. Dr. Joseph Novak officiating. Burial in Flint Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1-8 PM and Thursday from 11 AM until 1 PM. Memorial contributions, in Mike's name, may be made to Esophageal Cancer Awareness at Ecaware.org or Carriage Town Ministries.
Michael was born in Flint, Michigan to the late Elgie and Marie (Helzer) Walton. He had resided in Mt. Morris the past 43 years coming from Burton. Mike graduated from Kearsley High School in 1972 and attended UM – Flint for 4 years. He also graduated from Mott Community College's Die Maker apprenticeship program. Mike married Patricia Craft on March 26, 1977. He retired from GM's Grand Blanc Division as a Die Maker – Machinist in 2007 with 31 ½ years of service. Mike was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Flint. He was also a member of the Double Deuce Cruisers Car Club. He was a collector of antique cars and enjoyed car shows and cruises, NASCAR and football.
Surviving are: Wife, Patricia; Son, Matthew (Dawn Devereaux) Walton of Clio; Triplet grandsons: Landen, Garret, and Carter.
