CONWAY, William “Bill” Thomas – Of Clio, age 80, died Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at Hampton Manor of Montrose.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 3pm Thursday, March 20, 2025 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, Reverend Erik Cloeter officiating.
Visitation 12pm Thursday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Cremation has taken place.
Contributions may be made to Tuscola County Community Foundation c/o Caro Education Fund, 1100 E. Caro Road, Caro, MI 48723.
William was born in Pontiac, Michigan on August 15, 1944, the son of the late Hughie and Helen Conway. Bill started his career as a teacher at Flint Southwestern High School and was also the baseball and football coach. He was the Assistant Principal at Bay City Central High School, Principal at McAlear-Sawdon Middle School, Principal at Clio High School and Caro High School. On December 18, 1965, he married Susan Rettenmund at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Flint, Michigan. Bill was also a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church in Clio, the Clio Country Club and the Clio Rotary Club.
Surviving are wife, Susan;
Daughters, Stacy Sahr (Bryan) of Lapeer, Tracy Nolff (Elmond) of Grand Blanc and Jennifer Orcutt (Louis) of Bloomfield Hills;
Grandchildren, Keaton Pnacek, Kyle Sahr, Erin Sahr, Spencer Nolff, Caitlin Nolff, Jackson Vance, Jacob Vance, Olivia Orcutt and Maddie Orcutt;
brother, Robert Conway (Barbara);
and sisters-in-law, Cindy Conway and Susan Rettenmund.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws, Weldon and Dolores Rettenmund, brother, Michael Conway and brother-in-law, Mervin Rettenmund.
