WILLIAMS, Henry Lafayette “Faye” - Of Flint, age 91, died Friday, October 4, 2019 at his home.
Funeral service will be held 11 am Friday, October 11, 2019, at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 6273 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Pastor Aaron Whitman officiating.
Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery.
Visitation 12-3pm, and 5-8pm Thursday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. Visitation 10am Friday at the church until the time of the service.
Henry was born on September 15, 1928, in Paragould, Arkansas. He was raised by loving parents on a farm and participated in Future Farmers of America. On October 12, 1946, he married the love of his life, Doris J. Walters, also of Paragould, Arkansas, and the couple moved to Flint, Michigan. They remained married for nearly 73 years.
Henry served in the U.S. Army in Germany and was employed by General Motors in Flint for 36 years. After retiring in 1981, he enjoyed watching birds in his beautiful yard, tinkering with mechanics and jewelry, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Henry was full of warmth and love, a man of humble faith and strength. He was always quick with encouraging words. If you met him once, you never forgot him.
Henry will be dearly missed by his surviving wife Doris, daughters, Debra and husband John Self, and Cheryl and husband Larry Martin; his grandchildren, Laura, Adam and Rebecca, and Benton, Chelsea and Emily; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Galen; sister, Martha Easton; sister-in-law, Joetta Williams; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Clyne Jr; sister-in-law, Judy Williams, and brother-in-law, Glen Easton.
Those desiring may make contributions to Cornerstone Baptist Church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
