CHAPPELL, David Andrew – of Clio, age 77 died Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, December 29, 2017 at Bethany United Methodist Church. Rev. Cathi Huvaere officiating. Burial in Flint Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio on Thursday, December 28, 2017 from 1-8 PM and at the church on Friday from 10AM until time of service at 11AM. Memorial contributions can be made to the Bethany United Methodist Church or the Eastern Michigan Food Bank.
David was born January 16, 1940 in Flint, Michigan the son of the late Keith and Gladys (Turner) Chappell. He resided in the Clio area all his life and graduated from Clio High School with the class of 1958. On October 21, 1961 he married Judith L. Atkin in Clio, Michigan. Prior to his retirement in 1998 he worked for GMI and AC Spark Plug. He then worked for Amigo Mobility for 12 years. David was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church and served as Pastor of Parish. He was also a member of the Clio Jaycees where he served as Treasure and External VP. David was an avid snowmobiler and was a member of the Michigan Snowmobilers Association. He served as President and Treasure of the Dum-Dum Snowmobile Club. He enjoyed snowmobiling, motorcycling, camping and traveling. David also liked to take his Corvair to the area car shows. The family would like to thank Reverence Hospice for the outstanding care.
Surviving are: Wife of 56 years Judith: Children: Cynthia (Terry) Weisgerber, Scott (Trina) Chappell; Grandchildren: Kelly (Tom), Bruce, Jordan (Janae) Logan, Kamryn, Leighton, Spencer; Great Grandchildren: Thomas and Austin; Sister: Janet Smith; and his dog Ollie.
