R.B. Jones was born May 14, 1940 in Middleton, Tennessee to the late Curtis B. and Verlee (Lloyd) Jones.
He was the oldest of nine children.
He accepted Christ at an early age and united with Bowden Hill C.M.E. Church.
As a youth, he united with the Independent Society Number 3 where he remained a member until his
death.
He received his education in the Hardeman County School System and was a 1963 graduate of Bolivar
Industrial High School.
In the early 1960’s, he moved to Flint, Michigan for better job opportunities.
R.B. had a good work ethic, instilled in him and his siblings by their parents. He was employed at
General Motors and later did mechanical work. He was also a truck driver.
He was affiliated with First Union Missionary Baptist Church.
R.B. had a love for cars, ink pens, and most of all talking. He seemed to never meet a stranger. He loved
his family and the Lord.
He was the proud and loving father of Monica Thompson.
His parents and sister, Mable Terrell, preceded him in death.
R.B. departed this life on Monday, August 22, 2016 at Sugarbush Manor.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving and supportive daughter, Monica Thompson; five loving
sisters – Geneva Beard of South Bend, IN, Alma (Anderson) Bowden, Clara (Ocie) Wallace of Middleton,
TN, Melba Turner and Ruth (James) Crowder of Detroit, MI; two loving brothers – Robert (Joyce) Jones
and Ray Jones of Middleton, TN; two uncles Robert Jones of Middleton, TN and Aljernon (Elise) Lloyd of
Nettleton, MS; one great aunt – Legertha Wooden?Rucker of Memphis, TN, and a host of loving nieces,
nephews, cousins, friends and a special friend, Vanessa Grant, and her sons, Marnee’ and Donyel Grant,
who will miss him dearly |
