Jean Ann (Allswede) Johnson of Grand Blanc, Michigan passed away peacefully on October 7, 2017 at the age of 92 with her family by her side. She was born on September 17, 1925 to Earl and Hazel Allswede in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. Jean graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1944. She married Mynard Johnson in 1945 and was an original “Rosie the Riveter" during WWII. For over 20 years Jean and her girls moved with him many times while he was in the US Navy. She resided in Grand Blanc for 52 years retired in 1997 as office manager for Dr. Jeremy’s dental practice. Jean was active in the Grand Blanc Women’s Club and a member of Grand Blanc United Methodist Church. Jean dressed in MSU attire while cheering on her Spartans during football and basketball games, and she loved to watch golf tournaments on television. She used her creativity in crafting, gardening, sewing, and cooking, and as a Girl Scout leader. Jean faced difficulties head on and is an example for her family of how to persevere. Her daughters will always remember the beautiful Barbie Doll cakes she made for their birthdays, and her grandchildren will recall that her Rice Krispy Treats were the best ever. Family and friends will remember her infectious laugh, determination, and independent spirit. She is survived by her daughters Floydene “Deenie” (Gordon) Lesher of Okemos and Deborah Johnson of Grand Blanc; sister, Winnifred Hartman of Midland. She leaves behind grandchildren: Michael (Jody) Lesher of Roswell, GA; Jennifer Lesher of Santa Fe, NM; Shawn (Suzi) Alejandro of Fenton, and Ross (Ashley) Alejandro of Mt. Morris; great grandchildren: Blake Alejandro, Izaiah Lesher, Miles Lesher, and Garret Lesher; cousins, nieces and nephews in Michigan and Oklahoma. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, sister Geraldine Spangler, brother, Norman Allswede, and long-term partner Joe Plummer. The care given by Grand Blanc Brookdale Center and the staff at Heart to Heart Hospice is much appreciated. A memorial service will be held at Hill Funeral Home, 11723 S. Saginaw St., Grand Blanc, on Monday, October 16, 2017 at 12pm, officiated by Pastor Julius De Pino and Chaplain Paul Mabry. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service, beginning at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Grand Blanc United Methodist Church, the Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association, the Grand Blanc Women’s Club Scholarship Fund, or Heart to Heart Hospice.
