Horton, Delores Mae of Flushing, age 94, died Saturday, August 17, 2024, at McLaren-Flint. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at Rossell Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Flushing Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home until the time of the service at 1 p.m. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Clio Cast and Crew.
Delores was born in Flint, Michigan on June 13, 1930, the daughter of Ralph and Ena (Brown) Thomas. She married Richard Horton on June 26, 1948, at the Flushing United Methodist Church. They raised four children on their Michigan Centennial Farm where Delores loved hosting family holidays and get-togethers through the years. She was famous for her Christmas cookies she made every year. Together with her husband, they enjoyed traveling across the country in their motor home, fishing and spending winters in Arizona and Florida. Richard preceded Delores in death on October 2, 1997. Delores worked for Flushing Community Schools for 18 years as a bus driver. She was a member of the Flushing Red Hat Society. Delores was an avid card player.
Delores is survived by her children, Allan Horton, Craig Horton, Denise Holaly, Sheryl (Kelly) Henderson; grandchildren, Craig Jr. (Angie) Horton, Lauren (Cody) Zembo, Mitchell (Megan) Holaly, Shelby (Tyler) Henderson, Jody (Alex) Vincent; great-grandchildren, Madison, Dylan, Juliet, Quinn, Viola, Rozlyn, Genevieve, Rhett; sister, Lorena Ham; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; daughter-in-law, Shary Horton; son-in-law, Lawrence Holaly; and granddaughter, Brande Horton.
