HECKEL, Dorothy Virginia – of Clio, age 90, passed away Friday, April 19, 2019 at McLaren-Flint Health Care surrounded by her loving family. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, April 25, 2019 at O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio, Michigan. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Thursday, April 25, 2019 from 10:00 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM. Memorial contributions can be made to the Salvation Army.
Dorothy was born December 30, 1928 in Hancock, Michigan to the late Walter and Myrtle (Baker) Dugdale. She grew up in Hancock, Michigan and attended Hancock High School. On September 28, 1946 she married Robert D. Heckel in Houghton, Michigan. Prior to her retirement in 1988 she worked for Herriman’s Dairy for 18 years. Dorothy enjoyed bowling, traveling, arts and crafts, and going to the casino. She also loved to spend time with her family at Lake in the Greens in Barton City, Michigan.
Surviving are: Children, Sharon Straughmatt, Lucille Orso, Douglas Heckel, Carol McKee; Grandchildren, Stephanie (Michael) Taber, Brett Dodge, Shana Orso, Samantha Julian, Rebecca Straughmatt, Brian (Grace) Orso, Anthony (Hannah) Saxton, Dustin Straughmatt, Vickie (Robert) Bearup, Tracie (Daniel) Garfi-Sharber, Leah McLain, Brian (Serena) Immerzel, Nicolas McKee; 18 Great Grandchildren; 1 Great-Great Grandchild; Siblings, Gladys Knuuti, Catherine (Fred) Eakin, Warren (Gwen) Dugdale; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her Parents; Husband, Robert Heckel; Children, Teresa Dodge, Robert Heckel Jr., Barbara Saxton; Son in law, Roy Orso; Siblings, Shirley Harwell, Fred Dugdale, Bill Dugdale.
