GARRETT, Bruce M. – Of Flint, age 75, died Thursday, June 13, 2013 at His Caring Arms in Holly.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, June 17, 2013 at
Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1227 East Bristol Road, Burton,
Father Steve Anderson officiating.
Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Those desiring may make contributions to Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.
Visitation 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. A Vigil Service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday followed by a K of C Council #10170 Prayer Service at the funeral home.
Mr. Garrett will be at the church from 10 a.m. Monday until the time of the Mass.
Bruce was born in Flint, Michigan on December 11, 1937 and was a resident of Flint all of his life.
On October 24, 1959 he married Joanne Schmitt.
He was in the U.S. Navy from 1957-1959.
He was a member of Holy Redeemer Choir and K of C Council #10170.
Mr. Garrett was employed by Chevrolet V-8 for 27 years, retiring in 1988.
Surviving are wife, Joanne;
five daughters, Cheryl (Doug) Collins,
Linda (Paul) Sussi,
Janel (Rodney) Briggs,
Elaine (Rob) VanderMey and
Karen (Todd) Barnes;
five grandchildren;
one great-granddaughter;
one sister, Peggy (Rev. Richard) Marsh.
He was preceded in death by parents, Earl and Mary; one sister, Betty Baker; two brothers, infant, Lester Garrett and Fred Garrett.
