RATHSACK, Agnes J. - Of Flint, age 77, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at McCandlish Manor after a three year challenge with dementia and diabetes.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11am Saturday, July 20, 2013 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1227 East Bristol Road, Burton,
Father Steve Anderson officiating.
Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.
Visitation 2-4 and 6-8pm Friday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. A Rosary will be prayed 7pm Friday evening at the funeral home. Agnes will be at the church 10am Saturday until the time of the Mass.
Agnes was born in Ludington, MI on July 18, 1935, and was a resident of Flint and Mundy Township most of her life. She spent her early years in Ludington where she attended school. She married Thomas Rathsack on July 6, 1957 in Ludington. They moved to the Flint area in Mundy Township. Agnes was employed as a bus driver and Supervisor of Transportation for Burton Holy Redeemer School for more than 18 years until the school closed. Agnes also was a volunteer in the school office for many years. She was active in the Burton Senior Center, where she drove the Center’s van for several years. Agnes was an expert seamstress, having taken the full repertoire of the Bishop Sewing Program. Agnes’ hobbies included ceramics, traveling and visiting various lighthouses on Lake Michigan and Lake Huron. She was active in her church, belonging to the CCW and her Lady of the Snows Guild. Agnes also belonged to the Lake Fenton Sailing Club where she enjoyed many years of sail boating and events at the club.
Surviving are husband, Thomas;
daughters, Teresa Rathsack and husband Mark Kraner, Jeannette Oslund and husband Perry, Julie Craig and husband Chris;
son, Stephen and wife, Kathryn;
grandchildren, Cassandra Frazier, twins, AnnaMarie and Constance Rathsack, Evan, Emelia and Ethan Oslund;
sister, Betty Bolton;
brothers, Harry, Clarence and Robert Genson and wife Beverly;
many nieces and nephews.
Agnes will be sadly missed by all of her friends and family.
