BRITT, James N. “Short” - Of Davison, age 90, died Friday, February 1, 2013 at his residence.
Funeral service will be held 12pm Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
Burial in Crestwood Cemetery.
Visitation 3-8pm Monday and 10am Tuesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Jim was born in Lafe, Arkansas on October 8, 1922, and was a resident of the Flint area for many years. Jim married Mary Blagg on August 15, 1959 and she preceded him in death on April 18, 2009. Jim served in the United States Army in the Philippines during World War II and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Philippines Liberation Ribbon and a Bronze Star. He enjoyed playing his guitar and playing checkers. Jim retired from General Motors V8 Engine Pistons Department after 30 years of service and was a member of UAW Local #659.
Surviving are children, James L. of Flint and Toni and husband Tyler Whipple of Davison;
grandchildren, Justin, Nikki, Jordan and Jacob;
sister, Velma and husband Vopel Watkins of Atlas;
three sisters-in-law;
several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, and several siblings.
A special thank you to Rosemary and husband Don Ingraham for their kindness and generosity shown to our father for the last 4 years.
