LANDON, John N. – Of Flint, age 69, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 29, 2011.
Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 31, 2011 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Scott Southerland officiating.
A Private Burial will be held at Flint Memorial Park.
Visitation 1 p.m. Sunday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to Brian’s House of Davison.
John was born in Amory, Mississippi on July 15, 1942 and moved to Flint, Michigan when he was a young boy.
He served in the U.S. Army in the 101st Airborne as a Screaming Eagle.
He was a retired pipefitter from Chevy in the Hole.
John is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Shirley Landon of Flint;
four devoted children, son, Bill Landon, daughter, Lolita Landon, daughter, Cassandra (Landon)and husband Dwayne Pollard, son, Andrew and wife Kendra Landon, all of Flint;
16 grandchildren that he loved and adored, and his first great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Kay, due to arrive August 20th;
his brother, Bob and wife Kathy Landon of Mt. Morris;
sister, Barbara and husband Tom Coon of Lapeer, along with many more well loved family members, and lots of dear friends.
John was preceded in death by his father, Andrew; mother, Merlie and brother, Jim, all of Flint.
Our family would like to extend our greatest thanks to the nurses and aides at Brian’s House that were absolutely wonderful during John’s final days with us.
