SLOAN, Caroline Arloa (Sterling) – of Davison, MI, formerly of Lapeer County, MI, age 82, passed away Monday, January 7, 2019. A Graveside Service will be held 11 AM Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Davison Cemetery; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski officiating. There will be a Memorial Service held in the spring of 2019. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lapeer County Animal Shelter, in Caroline’s memory.
Caroline was born December 6, 1936 in Flint, MI, daughter of the late Homer and Marion (Hobson) Sterling. She married James Douglas Sloan on July 14, 1956 and he preceded her in death on May 19, 2013. Caroline was incredibly well-read and had a great pursuit of knowledge. She had a strong work ethic and was employed as a nurse during her career. Caroline was also a master gardener, nature enthusiast and animal lover. She was artistic, funny and intelligent with a feisty, playful spirit. Caroline was loved by everyone who knew her and she will be deeply missed.
Caroline is survived by 6 children, Julie (John) Harrow, Robin (Tim Allen) Sloan, James Dean (Jill) Sloan, Kevin (Lynn) Sloan, Stephanie (Bill) Hawkins and Daniel (Rhonda) Sloan; 9 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; brother, Don (Pat) Sterling; sister, Yvonne Taylor; many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister, Alice Manser.
