SPINNEY, Gene Allen– of Davison, age 89, passed away August 19, 2016 at his residence. Interment with Military Honors under the auspices of the Davison VFW #4087 was held privately at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held 12 PM Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 5073 Daly Blvd., Flint; Rev. Joe Cottam officiating. Visitation will be 5-8 PM Monday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or Franklin Ave. Mission, 2210 N. Franklin Ave., Flint 48506.
Gene was born in Flint, MI on February 13, 1927 son of the late Lawrence and Eldervine (Yauch) Spinney. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy. Gene was a charter member of St. Mark Lutheran Church and a member of the Davison VFW # 4087. He retired from GM Flint Truck Assembly in 1981.
Gene is survived by his wife of 68 years, Betty; children, Stephen (Linda Tolle) Spinney, Ronald (Millie Treichel) Spinney, Gregory (Teri Wilson) Spinney and Michael (Michele Hall) Spinney; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Melvin (Sandy) Spinney; many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by brother, Howard (Ginnie) Spinney.
