Age 68, passed away Monday, September 9, 2019 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 10:00 AM Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at New Creation Church of God, 3472 Lennon Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Pastor Dr. Herbert L. Banks officiating. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Wednesday. Mrs. Perry will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM Tuesday.
Mrs. Elizabeth Ida “Liz” Perry was born February 11, 1951 in Saginaw, Michigan, the daughter of Robert and Addie Harrison. She grew up in Burt, MI and attended the Chesaning School System. “Liz” later moved to Flint, Michigan and graduated from Flint Central High School, “Class of 1969” with Distinction. She was a faithful member of New Creation Church of God and served in many capacities which include numerous ministries. Elizabeth was employed by Citizens Banking Center/First Merit for 36 years, retiring in 2015. She met the love of her life, Jesse W. Perry in 1989 and on June 17th, 1995, they married. “Liz” loved spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends. She was affectionately called “Aunt Liz”, “Grand Liz”, “Gramma” and “Gramma Liz”. Elizabeth enjoyed traveling, golfing, gardening, event planning, public speaking and Do-it-yourself Projects. She was an avid reader and loved her mornings alone having tea, toast, prayer and meditation. “Liz” was a God-fearing, God-loving Woman. She also was a Mentor and over the years, mentored dozens of young girls into womanhood. “Liz” was extremely humble about her achievements, but was heavily involved in multiple civic organizations. Some of her involvement included her work in the East Bishop Block Club, work on the North End Get Out and Vote Campaign; being elected Precinct Delegate as a Member of the Democratic Party; involvement as Associate Member of the UAW Local #599 Retiree Chapter; serving several ministries at New Creation Church including CWC and co-authoring a book. “Liz” served her beloved Fellowship at the group, district, state and worldwide level with gratitude and zeal. She was also an Alternate Delegate, Panel 52 Delegate and most recently as Past Delegate. Special thanks to worldwide fellowship of Al-Anon. Mrs. Elizabeth Ida “Liz” Perry leaves to cherish her memory: committed husband, Jesse W. Perry; daughter, Ebonie Ogden; 3 sons, Emanuel (Faith) Johnson, J. Glaston (Shannon) Perry and Anton Perry; 11 grandchildren, Cordarris, Anton Perry Jr., Antionna, Ursula, Noah, Keziah, Serenity, Zion, James Devontra and Justin; 11 loving great-grandchildren; sisters, Verna Harrison and Bertha Dailey; brother, Edward (Ruth) Harrison; sisters-in-law, Floretta Perry, Geraldine Harrison, Barbara Thomas and Rosie (Sam) Crawford; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends, Renee Adams, Sally Coletti, Art and Marie McGee, Wanda Lyons (Robert), Joy McKenzie, Flo and Paul Greer, Billy and Hazel Bradshaw, and the Bishop Avenue family. Mrs. Perry was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Addie Harrison; sister, Ophelia Chenault; brothers, John, David and Robert Jr. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Brian J. Bhagat, Dr. Peram, McLaren-Flint staff and all offered services to our loved one. |
