FOSTER, Helene M. – Of Flint, age 92, died Sunday, July 8, 2018
at her residence.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, July 16, 2018 at
St. John Vianney Catholic Church 2415 Bagley Street, Flint,
Father Tom Firestone officiating.
Entombment at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation 12- 8 p.m. Sunday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
A Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Foster will be at the church from 10 a.m. Monday until the time of the Mass.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John Vianney School, Powers Catholic High School or the Humane Society of Genesee County.
Helene was born in Mt. Morris, Michigan on August 23, 1925, the daughter of William and Mary Burns.
She graduated from St. Mary High School. She attended the University of Michigan Ann Arbor, where she received six degrees over several years.
Helene married Billie A. Foster in 1962 at St. Mary’s Church and he preceded her in death in 2002.
She was a member of St. John Vianney Church since 1961.
She enjoyed golf for many years, and at the present time she liked playing Bridge with a wonderful group of women.
She liked to knit and do needlepoint, loved to shop and to exercise at Hurley Fitness.
Mrs. Foster taught at Emerson Junior High School and Southwestern High School. She was coordinator for student teachers at the University of Michigan.
Surviving are nephews, Michael Kelly, Dave Burns and Thom Burns; nieces, Cathy Burns and Maureen Kelly, who are very dear to her; plus the grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Ann Kelley, in 2011; her brother, Bill Burns, in 2007.
