Juan was born on November 24, 1944 in Pleasanton, Texas to Juan and Elvira Diaz.

He married his beloved wife, Juanita Gutierrez on March 28, 1964.

Juan was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend to many. He loved being the man behind the barbeque grill. He was the person who wanted to celebrate every holiday at home with his family. He enjoyed rides with his grandchildren to the local ice cream shop, fishing, and return trips back to his hometown in Texas.

He was one of the parents involved in successfully bringing the bilingual program to the Flint area, a longtime community activist, coach of men’s softball league and had many volunteer hours in numerous organizations.

Juan worked at Buick V-6 before retiring in 2001.

Before he retired he was active with the UAW New Solutions Group. He loved to debate the positive affect the UAW had in the working man’s life. He loved to show his loyalty to the UAW, most recently driving his truck with the rear window covered by a sign stating the following “Happily enjoying my UAW retirement”.

Left to cherish his memory, son, J.T. Diaz of Flint;

daughter, Angel (Jim) Diaz of Clio;

four grandchildren, Niko Ramirez, Julianna DeCroce, Yasmin DeCroce and Nadia Diaz;

brothers and sisters, Jesse (Thelma) Diaz of TX, Maria Enriquez of Lansing, Pete Garcia of Flint, Carmen (Arturo) Morales of TX, and Angelita Almaraz of Flint;

many nieces, nephews and his beloved dog, “BUDDY”.
