KANYUCK,RINA KATY – Age 95, formerly of Flint, died on Monday, September 9, 2019.
Visitation 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, MI.
Rina’s life will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at Hope United Methodist Church, G-4467 Beecher Road, Flint, Reverend John Clair Ferris presiding.
Burial will be held at 2 p.m. at the Great Lakes National Cemetery.
Born March 27, 1924 in Benid, Illinois.
Rina received a Bachelor of Arts degree from San Diego State College in 1946 and was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority.
She continued her education receiving a Master of Arts degree in Education from the University of Michigan Ann Arbor in 1966.
Rina began her teaching career in San Diego Unified School District. She continued teaching in Flint Michigan specializing in reading and elementary education. In 1973 she became a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society. With her love of the Arts Rina was an avid supporter of the Flint Cultural Arts Programs. Rina retired from teaching in 1985.
Rina is survived by her daughter, Peggy McCabe, son-in-law, Dan McCabe and daughter Vivien Buffa.
She was preceded in death by her husband John of 54 years and brother, Gino Caporaletti.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Foundation for Fighting Blindness, PO BOX 45740, Baltimore, MD 21297-5740.
