DOWD, Harriet E. "Fancy"- of Montrose, age 94, went to be with her Lord August 15, 2013 at Medilodge of Montrose. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Monday, August 19, 2013 at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Montrose. Fr. Paul Schwermer officiating. Burial in Montrose Twp. Cemetery. Visitation at the O'Guinn Family Funeral home in Montrose on Sunday from 2-8PM. She will lie instate at the church on Monday from 10AM until the time of service at 11AM. Contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Harriet was born May 24, 1919 in Montrose to the late Marion and Maggie (Smith) Bronson. She married Peter Dowd on November 19, 1938 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Birch Run. He preceded her in death on April 5, 2004. They had 65 wonderful years and 7 children together, Mick (Alice) Dowd of Henderson, Gary (Nancy) Dowd of Bancroft, Marilyn Woodbury of Montrose, Dave (Tammy) Dowd of Montrose, Rosanne (Darwin "Sonny") Eldred of Montrose, Theresa (Rocky) Moore of Enterprise, AL. She also leaves behind: daughter-in-law, Jeanette "Jeanne" Dowd of Montrose; 17 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; special friend, Tommy Belill of Birch Run; brother-in-law, Leonard "Johnny" Dowd; several nieces and nephews; several family members. She was preceded in death by: son, Ronald Dowd; 2 brothers and 4 sisters.
Harriet was a member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Montrose. She enjoyed reading the paper, sewing, camping, boating, fishing, traveling and spending time with her family.
